Like minded people still pool their money. Big lobbying players get half the return on what they would normally spend.

Seems like a good start

I am. You’re naive if you think there isn’t coordination between lobbying firms and PACs.

You think the current lobbying system is good.

Really not worried about your opinion on intelligence.

It is helping drive people directly away from stability and confidence in our govt institutions - basically what you should want to avoid.

PACs also come in basically every stripe one can imagine

This whole thread really amounts to, "I want to stop the people with money that I don't like........ While trying to figure out how to not stop the ones I like"

It's idiocy

And just for the record, I think lobbying is bad because it makes lawmakers lazy. They’re the ones elected to write our laws, yet the bulk of our bills drafted and passed and are written by lobbyists. I think In theory they’re a good thing, but like most everything else in politics the system gets perverted by bad actors.

by the way genius. When you and your like-minded friends pool your money to try and persuade politicians what exactly do you call that entity?

I'll give you a hint. It starts with an L

I agree, the idea of lobbying helping make lawmakers make informed decisions which benefit their constituents is a great idea. It just doesnt play out that way

Now groups can have both but they function totally different. PACS have lobby but they are highly regulated.

Sounds like your issue is campaign finance.

You've already admitted you're ok with money influencing politicians

So your "idea" of democracy would appear to be, "ONLY your ideas are good and should have access"

LOL

Yes I have been to politics board often.

There are nuts on both sides of the spectrum, but the middle ground people are very informed and intelligent on world matters.

If you think there is “middle ground” on that board you have no clue what middle ground is.

Well

I have not admitted that, I want money to not influence politicians. The "like minded people" can pool their money as in all contribute to a campaign which aligns with their ideas.

Not pool money to go shake down a politician. I mean that could theoretically happen but that isnt the idea I'm trying to convey
