You don't think its out of control now? We are a county that is governed by special interest. Just look at what industries spend the most on lobbyist. Insurance for example. Do you think they are lobbying for what's best for the people's interest or their interest?

LOL. Tax lobbying? I can tell you aren't a serious person.

quote:

ce - the mechanism of how that fund gets paid out can take various forms but basically put monetary power into the general populations hands as it relates to campaign finance which is subsidized by a large lobbying tax
publicly financed campaigns are an idiotic idea AND, since you can't ban lobbying, all you end up with is public financing PLUS lobbying and campaign donations

But. The larger point is that it's idiotic to hate lobbyists. Lobbyists are literally the ONLY direct avenue for GROUPS of people to gain similar access to what rich individuals have.

Most of the biggest lobbying groups are literally the product of millions of voters banding together under over umbrella.

I know they do, and I understand what the lobbying industry is. It isnt like they are losing money by lobbying, or else they wouldn't do it.

I would tax all of them, and then put that money towards people having a similar voice for elections via campaign finance. There shouldn't be a monetary limit to having a say in politics.

Under the law and regulations, absolutely.

Soft money doesn't come from lobby. That's a Neanderthal view.

You're just very confused.

It’s bad, it gives corporations or people with money to much power or control over politicians. The politicians essentially work for the corporations or whomever gives them the most money.

There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to tax lobby. Some is already taxed as lobbyist income.

It appears you don't

Wrong and simpleton-ish

You're confusing campaign hard and soft money with lobby.

Ok, sorry I guess I misworded what I am saying. I dont mean ti take lobbyist income.

It is more like an additional employer tax. If x group puts x money towards "lobbying", and you would identify various expenses which count, they also have to pay a large percentage on top of those expenses

Explain to the group why Louisiana is the 9th leading oil producing state in the US but is broke.

Is this a trick question? An enormous proportion of LA’s population is illiterate, functionally retarded, and has no desire to find gainful employment. If there were a nationwide IQ test Louisiana would be lower than the nation average in a statistically significant way.

Congratulations

You just devised a method for eliminating all access to lobbying From groups made up of non rich contributors.

Awesome.

Your city has lobby. You pay taxes to support the lobby, so you want to charge yourself in order to have someone in your state house or in DC to represent your towns interest.

Hilarious.
