I dated a girl that, in her previous marriage, was allowed to sleep with another man. She was actually a pretty cool girl but I never understood how a marriage like that could work…and apparently it didn’t

Seems to be common in swinging relationships. 1 party catches the feelings (could even be the outside party) then things get messy. You don’t hear a lot of, “Mildred and I have been married for 40 years and have been swingers for 35” stories going around.
I’d venture to guess that well over 50% of active swinger relationships (i.e. more than a one time thing) end in divorce.

A couple we are friends with had pineapple decorations on their lawn and had no idea of it’s meaning the girl thought it looked cute.

It's easy to be tempted by other women and think about affairs but then reality hits you, as my wife told me- "Do you realize how many times I have been propositioned by other men??" And what was really concerning was when she said sometimes it was friends of mine!
So the moral is, appreciate what you have, especially if she is good to you, because if not, she can play the same games!

I know couples who have done this.
Inevitably, it leads to trouble and breakup when one of them finds someone they like better.
IIRC, two of those ended up with the husband getting busted for fricking an underaged chick in which they had been lied to about their age. “She lied to me” isn’t a legal defense even when there is proof of it and they have a history of doing so.

Honestly, a huge percentage of marriages dissolve. Swinging is often an attempt to try and make things last, or at least in one instance both parties deciding they couldn’t afford to divorce and just start fricking other people instead.
