Dork time: Isostatic rebound is basically the phenomena of removing a weight off of a sponge...the sponge “rebounds” and gains in thickness when the weight is removed from on top of it. Same goes with glaciers and the earths crust: it’s been observed in many places that as the glaciers retreated, the crust is rebounding (or has in the past) and is gaining elevation to this day.

they may have all experienced some localized flooding. I know people from livingston parish who think the whole world flooded in 2016.

Eustasy is sea level rise or fall. Sea level would fall during an Ice Age due to ice forming on land, slowing down part of the water cycle.

Isostasy is continents raising and lowering due to less or extra mass present on continental plates.

Plates float on the astheosphere, and when more mass is added to a plate it will sink into the asthenosphere. Think Isostasy = Plate Buoyancy.

Mass added to the plate during an Ice Age would be ice sheets. Remove those and the continent rises up.

The catastrophes you speak of 12,000 years ago were also likely due to the burning of fossil fuels

First time I heard of along those lines was on joe Regan experience podcast. He had Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson on. Blew my mind for sure. They talked about global catastrophes that caused a complete reboot to the human species around 12,000 years ago. Very interesting.

that was a great and eye opening podcast. Atvs minimum it shows how little we really know about recent history of our species. THIER theory explains a lot of fsctor ....especially how humans got so smart so fast.

A catastrophic flood of some type happened. Ignorant man, using religion as the sounding board for their inability to explain why, ... Just took advantage of the situation and the myth of Noah was born*

In 2000 years, the new updated King LeBron James version of the bible will say the climate changed leading to famine and disaster because little Johnny took a internal combustion bus to school.

*This is my theory and not proven by facts, CNN or the Drudge Report

I call BS. Water seeks it's own level. This can only happen if all oceans were not connected at all to other oceans. It may take a while to even out but not years.

I wasn't trying to say that there was one big flood that affected everyone on Earth. Thats why I used the term "mythology." I was simply pointing out that the man named Noah is not just a Christian figure.

No, there really isn't. When it comes to threats to the human species - higher CO2 isn't even a molehill. I'm not certain it's even a net negative given that plants will grow better and ice ages will become far less likely.

And this wasn't really even a Global Warming thread to start with, so how did it devolve to that crap? The very different sea levels thing is totally unrelated.
