APSO: Boy arrested after bringing gun to Dutchtown High School

There was no report of a specific threat to a student or employee, Carli Francois, the school’s principal, said in an email sent to parents
“However, we take this matter very seriously and commend the anonymous tip,” Francois said.
School has been in session, what, two weeks? If that?
Unless I'm mistaken there were already incidents like this at McKinley and Plaquemine High.

Hell, when I was in school, we kept guns in our trucks. But then again, we weren't pussies that had to shoot up a school cuz somebody wanted to whip our arse. Folks today are betas.

I remember Dutchtown Middle students bringing guns to school (early/mid 90s)

Always guns in the truck. Used to carry a knife everyday clipped on the pocket so you could tell it was a knife. Most of my buddies did never a word said only thing you might get in trouble for was a big Johnson t- shirt

Criminal brought the gun to school, which is against the law and school rules. Got what he deserved.

Shotgun lived under my back seat and it was not out of the ordinary for me to have a .357 under my front seat. It wasn't until I left a rifle on the back seat so the scope wouldn't get bumped and the new baseball coach saw that there was an issue.

I have a son at Dutchtown.
This was a legit threat to school safety. It was not just a gun locked in a car.
Boy was talking about shooting students and staff via social media DM's. He just did not specifically target one person.
One of his friends turned him in.
Rumor mill today says there is another guy with a gun that was "supposed to participate with the other kid when the shooting occurs"
My exwife wants to check our son out of school today. It is her week (we share 50-50 custody).
I'm conflicted. Told her it was her week and therefore her call. Obviously I want my son to be safe but I also do not want to overreact to the "rumor mill"
What a glorious day and age we live in...

Why do they not go through every bag, every kid, and every locker at the school? If the threat is real then the school needs to step up and fix it. Anything to avoid Columbine 2.0

Here's what I'm being told:
arrested boy claimed to another friend (apparently last night) that his partner was not caught
that friend is supposed to tip off the admin today about it.
I'm sure if that happens the school will conduct an exhaustive search.
I advised the exwife to call the school/express her concerns and what she is hearing and then decide whether to take our son out of school today.
The "partner" information to me sounds sketchy. like a kid trying to save face after getting caught but still wanting to sound like a bada$$.
