Well it's related to privacy and data collection.
More interesting though. Shows the types of tools out there at company's and the government's disposal.
Thanks for policing though

No frick you.
You are one of those morons have no problem with giving up more of your constitutional rights, freedom and privacy to the gov't because of a tragedy.
Never let a tragedy go to waste.

In the interest of national security I fail to see how Apple can't take the phone and copy the contents to turn over to the FBI.
Because Apple can't access data on iPhones since iOS 8. They couldn't help if they wanted to.

Put the CEO in jail for a while. Then we will see how long he believes in the first amendment.

I'm actually shocked Apple is standing up to them. Good for them.

Yeah, I don't see a problem here.
If the FBI can't get into the phone themselves, I don't think Apple should have any duty to help them unlock information on their devices.

From my understanding of the issue, the government is effectively asking Apple to push out a update to one specific user of a version of the software (that they would likely have to create just for this purpose) that would provide apple the encryption key or would lower the encryption standard to something that can then be unlocked by brute force.

Yes, your post is very dumb.
OK, I'll give ya that one.
I actually went and read the letter from Apple. The news story this morning made it sound like they just refused to unlock the actual phone to allow the FBI to examine all data. The explanation that Apple gave was much different. I'm kinda siding on Apple with this one.

isn't this a 5c that is in question that doesn't have the security enclave?

Apple products suck. I went through a whole debacle with them and iMessage. Couldnt get messages on a galaxy being a previous iphone owner because when they created iMessage, they tethered it to your phone number rather than an app or phone software.
Long story short, after doing everything they said, I was told that I would have to wait 60 days before I could be certain that all of my text messages were coming through.
That is a MOTHERfrickER to get reset. FYI if you're going from Apple to anything else and use iMessage, make sure you turn that shite off BEFORE YOU get rid of the phone.
I also agree with Apple. Sets bad precedent.
