I get being excited about going to college but created a post about which college you’ve chosen like people are on pins and needles waiting is just weird.

Why are you following them on social media if you aren't interested in their lives?

Are those real
I only know they exist because they were all over my old neighborhood. Even worse is this kind of shite:

We had almost the exact same sign, to include the little icons, two doors down.

Before the Internet there would be a teacher who kept a list posted in their classroom.

There should be more hype for kids that do well academically and earn their choice of quality schools. I'd be happy to see them celebrate their commitment and flaunt their scholarship earnings.

I can now see some value in celebrating kindergarten graduate if it sparks the kid's enthusiasm for school and shows family values education. The middle school graduation still bother me though. It's not an accomplishment just meeting minimum standard to advance to HS.
Couple years back our HOA sent letters out warning folks that if their yard signs werent removed after something like 2 or 3 weeks they'd be fined. Most my neighbors thought it was draconian and the push back led HOA to stop enforcement. Now, my next door neighbor still has his daughter's 8th grade grad sign up from last year. The PTO pays for them so every kid gets one and now if you dont display prominently it looks like you hate your child.

The parents can create the enthusiasm for their children without resulting to such public spectacle. It also teaches an important lesson about whether you achieve for the family-extrinsic accolades from the other5- 6 year olds on your bus, or whether it comes from your mother and father.
Hey, you got a an exemplary grade in handwriting for the year, here is a giant cupcake! The public shite is just for social media feeds of moms, it's not really for the kid. Not that hard. Your family, your business, of course.

That's a problem parents need to come to terms with, like the incessant "celebrate Lemmy Jr by buying a yearbook tribute ad." F-off. My kid's self esteem is not determined by anyone else.
