In HS a buddy and I used to each ride one along the coast in Florida smoking blunts. Had a good time without a care in the world.
But I will say, scooters are like fat chicks. Fun to ride but you don’t want anyone to see you on it.

Our small town deflicted woman (loiters at convenience stores all day, occasionally flipping off passers by) acquired a motor scooter. She drives it around town. Some oil field truck is going to take her out because she drives about 20 everywhere. She had a bicycle until she got whacked by a car.

I always wanted to get a group of people from work to get some of these and commute like a little swarm.

MY step father-in-law bought him a scooter when he got too old to ride a normal motorcycle any longer. Due to bad knees he could not get his leg over a bike any longer. He bought him a big Yamaha Majesty “touring” scooter. Like this...
He use to ride it everywhere. Even rode it to Daytona with me and some guys one year for bike week. He was able to keep up with the pack with no problem. Had plenty of power. He’s now no longer able to ride it though (he’s over 80 and in bad health) so he sold it about a year ago.

Anywhere except the US scooters seem to be the preferable mode of transportation, and for good reason. They're cheaper, more economical, and more efficient.
If you don't have to commute outside of town regularly it's actually quite dumb to have a car.

Most of the people where I live ride a scooter everywhere. We also have about 1 death a week with them. My desire to live keeps me from riding them. As popular as they are I don’t think anyone on my street has one.
