Are low-mid calf socks only a thing for dudes with no muscle definition in their legs? I don't understand it. It looks terrible, and seems really uncomfortable. I see a ton of skinny legged dudes wearing tennis shoes and shorts, with tall socks just like this dude. I started noticing it the past 5 years or so. Looks as dumb to me as the mask does.

I wear it, and I dont think I have skinny legs by any means. I wear them mainly to soak up more sweat on my legs, because I sweat a TON, and run my arse off on the treadmill, and its a hassle to wipe off the machine after. I know, not like the socks will do much, but I guess the treadmill could get slippery if too much gets on it.

I think you sweat more, because they´re taller.

Most people don't know this, but 95% of body heat is generated and lost through the calves.

No pop. Never has looked like a tear in the muscle, but after the swelling & bruising went away there was about an inch long red slash under the skin in the fold of my elbow. Now there's nothing. It's just sore.

I remember reading a scientific article saying the masks don't work. You're just restricting airflow with them and not the air's composition or something like that. You basically need to change the atmosphere you're breathing in for the body to make more blood -> more oxygen carriers. So either you train in high altitude or for a tiny benefit, sleep in a altitude tent.

I bought one and yeah it works

With that said it isn't something I use frequently. Every piece of performance equipment has a purpose and app time to use it.

I used mine to prep myself before I went to Afghanistan and it helped by allowing me to acclimate to the altitude quicker

You can just do cardio while breathing through a snorkel and it will accomplish the same thing

The oxygen concentration is 20.9% at sea level, whether youre air flow is restricted or not. Also, even when you're training in altitude it would take weeks (24/7 spent in high altitudes w/ lower oxygen concentration) for your body to acclimate to the lower concentration of oxygen in the air. In conclusion, not only is it not mimicking the same air in higher altitudes, but even if it was (which it isn't), you're not training in the mask long enough for it to make a difference.
