Anyone worked for the construction company McDermott?

They got work right now at some LNG plants near Sabine Pass & Louisiana

I forgot what happened but I think McDermott bought out CB&I.

CB&I had that big contract in Hackberry not too far back.

Was wondering the pros/cons for working for them

My dad worked for McDermott right out of high school back in the 70s. He was let go when the oil crunch hit in the mid-to-late 80s. He seemed to like it, best I could tell. It’s a company whose name I’d not heard in ages…

An uncle of mine retired from there after 40+ years, but that was back in the 90’s. He travelled the world working for them. He made bank. Some kind of welder. In the 70’s he and his family were able to live in Holland for a couple of years and in England for a couple of more. He also spent time in some real shitholes, too. He would bring me coins from all of the counties he visited.

A High School friend of mine went to work for McDermott a week after our graduation on a “lay barge” (for pipeline work).

He stayed on the barge until July of the next year and had enough money saved to go to College for four years.

Good dude, RIP H.
