The Natch would not approve of this whining.

6 different states in nearly 20 yrs of marriage. An additional 2 states as a batchelor. Awesome to see the rest of the country, but difficult not being near family. No regrets.

We did, in 1990, hadn't looked back. Career move as well as what we thought the children needed.
Downside is limited time with family "back home".
Have never regretted.

We’ve wanted to but always looked for the “reason” to go. Grad school or the right job.
Doesn’t help that many attractive parts of the country are getting so expensive.
I envy you all who have the balls and spousal support to just do it.

It was difficult at first but now I like this part. I'm never involved in any family drama and visits are rare enough that everyone is focused on catching up and having fun.

Very true. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else is gonna do it! It is a humbling experience but that’s good for you as well. There will be times when your faith will be tested. Just keep on truckin!

Difficult being away from grandparents and relatives when the kids were young. Not having that built in sitter to take my wife out whenever I wanted. Having to rely upon just us. Great for a marriage you can make it work (we have). Only to ultimately move close to home to mow care for aging/ elderly parents. Still worth it.

I moved to Louisiana 10 years ago from Mississippi, left everyone but my kids behind -just got divorced-. No regrets job wise but I still dont have many friends as it seems many ppl here my age are very clique-ish.
It's why I come here and talk with you magnificent bastards

Definitely. My wife is the oldest of 5 and her mom sometimes acts like one of the kids, so there’s always some drama going on and usually my wife, as the oldest, has to take charge. Even my wife said that it’s been nice getting away from it all.

Yep, you definitely find yourself
Some probably can't get over having to take a hit financially or career wise, but in the long run you'll make up for it
You gotta take risks at times

Moved to Houston after wedding, came home when we started having kids. Nothing like growing up around family and didn’t want to take that away from them

My dad’s first cousin did. Just up and moved his entire family of 5 from FL to Montana.
We think he was running from something.

Id love to as Louisiana is a shithole and the summer is brutal. It would definitely be hard to move away as all of our parents are still alive and we have a 5 year old that loves them and sees them often. Maybe Houston wouldnt be that bad as its just a few hour drive. Maybe one day.

I’m going to move again but it will be once my kids are away at college. I love it here but do want to experience different places. Probably out of country

Just last year moved from south Florida to Portland OR. Lived in Florida my whole life and was tired of the heat and humidity. Had a white Christmas this year and so far love all there is to do and explore in the PNW.

Same reason that we stay. My wife loves LA but she's not from here
I'd prefer a little more terrain and less heat and humidity

A less than 3 hour drive isn’t crap. If it’s feasible for you to leave work and then make dinner with your family by driving, that isn’t a major move
If I leave for work I will be eating supper on a ship in Fourchon lmao. But yea, 3 hours aint shite.

Favorite state to live in?

Had a choice stay in Lake Cuck or move to Hou. Picked Hou and best move ever.
