I dont want to get married. I found a girl I really like and have a serious decision on my hands. Im fine being a lone rt now, but how do i know I will be fine 20 years from now when im old and miserable?

I had an uncle that was never married. I never asked him why before he passed, but my mom told me he was engaged once. So I guess on one hand something could happen with a woman that makes you want to be alone.

I'm 58 and have never been married. Doesn't bother me at all.

When I was in my 30's, I used to joke with my friends and say I was going to get married when I got old enough to have grandchildren. I told them my plan was to marry a widow with grandchildren so I could experience spoiling some kids. Now that I'm in that phase of life, I have no desire to "find" someone. If it were to happen, that would be fine, but I'm not looking for it.

It's not like I never thought I was in love, I just never wanted to get marry any of the women I dated. I think I'm a normal, nice guy. Have a good life and good friends, but I am kind of selfish. When I dated all the time, I'd usually just reach a point where I'd rather go to a ballgame than deal with the drama.

For most of the 27 years I lived in Dallas, I worked my real job selling advertising, but I also worked all of the Mavs home games, some Cowboy, Stars, Rangers and NCAA FB & Hoops games. I'm like Oscar Madison from The Odd Couple minus the roommate.

I had an uncle that worked for Phillips Petroleum in the North Sea for years. After he retired he married a widow in Virginia and made a home with her when he was about my age. They've been together for 20 or 30 years. There's still hope!

At 30 there's a good chance I'm going to be in that number. Not overweight or bad looking I just have horrible social skills/anxiety. Haven't given up all hope yet but the more I see people in relationships I realize just how different they are from me. Being single and alone when young is one thing but being that way when an old man is very depressing.

You are MALE and only 30. You have plenty of time.

You're never alone. You couldn't last a second without the sustenance of your creator. This is cold comfort or actually none at all for a nonbeliever, but I would rather believe that I am not self sufficient. Self-centeredness is unhappiness.
Fear is death. Live without fear. Be different and you will find love.

I doubt I ever get married, but I have lots of friends and family so I'm not really alone. Just not married.

If I stay in Houma, maybe. Women that have their shite together aren't easy to come by in these parts.

I'm early 50's and never married. Came close a couple of times but since I'm unattached currently it was apparently a good thing for me that "close" was all it was. I have zero interest in aiding the incomes of the divorce industry.

I gave up on the idea of marriage in the 80's while I was still pretty young. I moved to Oklahoma at a year's end when the news do their "year in review" kinda statistics and trends type reports. In 1987 the divorce rate in Oklahoma was 90%, up from the previous year, continuing a trend. In the early 1990's the divorce rate in Oklahoma actually exceeded 100% as measured: divorces granted vs marriage licenses issued. (people were moving into state married and divorcing once there apparently).

With 100% divorce rate it was like: Why bother? Would you go to a casino if there was 100% chance of losing your money? Would you go for a swim if there was 100% chance of drowning?

So much for "sanctity of marriage" at 100% divorce rate too.

I probably won't get married until I'm well into my 30s. I had a lot to work through in my 20s (anxiety etc etc) and now that I'm over it I want to live life for myself for a little while longer.
