That guy was a dick mainly because that girl was SOOOOOO nice to him and it was obvious she wasn't in a position to make any corporate policy but I hate when a company turns its back on a valued employee due to a little public pressure. I know it was disrupting their business at the time but it would have gone away in less than a week, they could have just said they were suspending him indefinitely and brought him back a week later and everything would have been fine. Not to mention he would have been so grateful he would probably work twice as hard as before.

I'd just assume defer to the company to make these decisions in their best interest.
