Order all new shite from Amazon 2 days before your arrival. Sit on the front steps and watch the UPS man unload it

Take the opportunity to make a road trip out of it, take your time and enjoy it.

I moved from Phoenix to Charlotte when I was 24 and put everything I owned in a single cab truck and moved so it wasn't that bad. Once I got married and had a full house to move I moved from Charlotte to Baton Rouge and paid and moving company to move everything and wouldn't do it any other way.

A lot of companies pay the majority of cost if you are relocating for them. Matter of fact, I think every time it's happened with someone I know, the company has paid.

That being said, you should find out how much they're willing to cover. I would see about getting an estimate as well and present it to them, they may be willing to cover it all.

Moved from VA to WA State, but I was in the military, so the move was free. We still had to drive though.

I'd insist on a relocation package from my new employer.

Our daughter lived in Manhattan for a little while. Given the difficulties of moving in NYC and concerns about some of her furniture fitting into her "apartment", we decided to just purchase furniture up there. It worked out for the best. The cost was less and the amount of work was cut in half.

The furniture companies deliver the goods to the building complex which made things substantially cheaper. Her complex allowed tenants to move only on certain days, so I wasn't too sure that a UHual/POD would have been feasible or practical.

I've done it two ways. When moving wasn't totally reimbursed I sold all my shite and bought new shite over time.

The second time the company paid for the movers and car movers and gave a lump sum allowance for incidentals.

Unpacking those boxes sucks a big ole donkey dick.

Moved away from the NOLA area twice. Once to Texas, about 650 miles way, once to Florida, 800 miles away. I had a paid move, so it was not that big of a deal. If you are having to move your own stuff, it is a hassle but if you plan accordingly, not too bad.

Many times....

N. CA once. Beautiful. Lots to do. Great weather, by and large. But, too many plastic people hooked on the material world...for my liking. Great visit. Not great life (for my go at life).

Graebel moving company. Moved all across the U.S. multiple times and nothing lost or broken. Do it.
