Death is an illusion as is birth. Your true essence is eternal soul/consciousness. You just slip back to the dimension that you were in before birth. On to other adventures. Earth is a school for spiritual growth.

Death is the easy part, it’s the time leading up to it that is bad.

I just want to make sure I accomplish what I want or plan to do before that.

Meaning I leave my kids enough to not have to worry about their time leading to death.

"The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago. Go and hide in a hole if you wish, but you won't live one instant longer. Your fate is fixed. Fear profits a man nothing." - Herger the Joyous in The 13th Warrior

I knew a man once who said, "Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back." - Maximus in Gladiator

Movie quotes, I know, but they both come down to what are you going to do about it?

As for how to not be afraid, well, for me, it's the realization that billions have faced it before me. My time will come to ante up too.

The answer seems obvious but think about it: Do you want to know WHEN or would you want to know HOW? If I know how, mabe I could do something to change what ever happens?

One, that's a quote from The Departed.

Two, no and no. It's not meant for me or anyone to know. Everyday, I'm going to do what I can. Not much else to do.

Having faith and knowing that our spirits will live on is comforting.

The only thing I hope is that I go without pain, but even if it is painful it's not even a drop in the bucket compared to eternity.

I don't want to die more than about anyone on the planet... But the few times I've been confronted with a life or death situation I processed it damned near ambivalently. Can't explain it

I’m not afraid. I lived a good life and expect to squeeze out another 50 laps.

I find it quite a stretch to think that a merciful Creator will send me to an afterlife of torture because:

1) To what benefit?
2) Is a ruthless lifetime of suffering as punishment something a loving God would do?
3) Will all my loving, mostly peaceful gestures be overshadowed just because I was born with a sense of humor that occasionally hurt someone’s feelings or resulted in a Mrs Butterworth’s bottle having to get surgically removed from b-hole during the George Floyd era to honor the achievements of my dear brothers and sisters?

Whatever happens, happens. My body and soul are ready. I probably won’t even know what’s happening. I’m a perpetual optimist who loves life and makes the most out of shitty circumstances. So why wouldn’t I also be wired to get the most out of any afterlife that may or may not follow?

Faith in Jesus Christ. I worry for my wife and daughters if I were to pass. But for myself, I know what’s ahead. The life of the world to come. I don’t deserve it, trust me.

Is this a good reason to have faith in Jesus? So you get something good out of it in the end? Seems pretty selfish and insincere, to me.

It is insane how many of the same people who believe in Jesus also don’t believe in a lot of what science tells us… yet somehow they trust a book that a few mostly uneducated middle easterners wrote 2000 years ago.

Or not. Maybe it’s just lights out.

Does our Creator keep creating new souls? Or is there a backlog of souls in a waiting room that are still trying to keep up with new population growth?

Anyone open minded enough to deeply think about dogmatic religious precepts will quickly realize that they are ludicrous and obviously man made. The Intelligence that created the universe and us doesn’t have a score to settle with you after death. Dogma was created by humans for control. It you dive down to the esoteric essence of every religious belief system you will find a common spiritual core. You have to connect with that core.

Why would you be afraid of death?

You won't realize it.

3 stages of life:

1. Living (like an orange, you will get bruised along the way), up to you how sweet it can be.
2. Dying - this is the suckiest part. Hope to die in your sleep quick, not via cancer, burning alive, eaten alive, MDK'd by a punk, etc.
3. Death - you won't realize it. (think of it as going to to sleep and waking up the next day, but with all your debts gone, b.s. gone, some downside, no college football)

I guess you never know until you get there. I have no fear of it now, and it’s hard for me to imagine being afraid of it, but my grandpa use to say, “I’m just marking time until I die.” He claimed to yearn for death. But when his health failed, and the reaper was coming, he cried.

The anticipation of death is worse than death itself.

You do realize that even science has come to the conclusion that there was a Creator?

Not saying that they are believers, but they've determined that life just didn't happen.

And, no offense, but I dont know any Christians that dont accept scientific facts.

We are 100% guaranteed to die. But once you're dead, it's over. You're out of this awful world.
