It was cool the one on Florida Blvd was in a decent part of town in the 70’s and 80’s. When Woolco was across the street that area was rocking.

Even the Kmart of Airline next to McClelland Drive was built when the area was a working class area.

Still got a very well made flannel shirt from the late 70’s I wear fishing.

The icee’s were refreshing in the summer.

Yeah, bought one from Kmart int he late 80s. Sold it, and regret that decision.

Up until the mid 80's or so the K-Mart in my hometown did keep a pretty well stocked fishing equipment department, even salt water gear and we're not a coastal city. As the years went by they went downhill pretty bad unfortunately

One local Kmart is now an Ollie’s Outlet. You owe it to yourself to go in one and look around. All kinds of discontinued type stuff marked way down, and interesting clientele.

I do, we would get our checks from the state fair and most of it went to KMart for Christmas presents. Most of my back to school came from there until about 10th grade. I bought a full set of Northwestern golf clubs as my first set.

I kind of do miss K-Mart. I remember getting a random urge to hit golf balls and picking up a cheap Ram 5-iron at the K-Mart on Veterans (near Causeway- the "Old Metairie" K-Mart, if you will). That place had a full-time cashier who was a white lady, about 60, with the cutest little body imaginable. She did not respond to my constant flirtation, but that 5-iron would hit laser-straight 175 yard shots all day.

I used to like Woolworth's (not Woolco), and W.T. Grant’s.
