Harahan has some kind of street fair in the Imperial Woods neighborhood that all the kids go to. It involves parental and police supervision. In other words it's nothing like Halloween.

I ran out at 7:30, had over 240 kids come through. More kids last night than the last few years. Not a lot of trash this year either, I'd say 97-98% had some type of costume.

I haven’t lived in a good Halloween neighborhood in my adult life. It’s a bummer, but my fault for choosing isolated, small cul de sac subdivisions. Last night, we went to a friend’s in the neighborhood next to ours, and it was like Halloween in the movies. Nearly every house participating, tons of elaborate decorations, crowds of kids in the streets. It was awesome, and now I’m looking at houses over there.

That coupled with more parents take their kids to fall festivals and trunk or treat events instead.
