Heartbreaking. Thankfully, no loss of life, but I'm sure this family feels like family history has literally gone up in flames.

Not just family history, Gris. Losing that house is a loss for the entire city. The historical presence that building carried can never be replaced.

I agree. I hate to picture what it will look like there.

Superintendent McConnell said NOFD had to get a car towed b/c it was blocking a fire hydrant

STUPID frickS... DON'T PARK IN FRONT OF A FIRE HYDRANT

Very tragic. Hopefully no injury or loss of life. But...

From the flames comes rebirth and new tradition. NOLA Strong!

Wow. I wouldn't want to be that person. Prime example of why not to park in front of too close the hydrants. They should have pulled a firetruck behind it and pushed it out of the way. Whatever damage would be the owner/driver's problem.

Think it started in the rear in some sort of annex house, then jumped over then went up to the 3rd floor. Saw something about a propane tank.

It started in the rear guest/pool house which was connected to the house. It spread to the basement before we were called.
We made entry on the rear right, with fire all around us. The house had 8 inch exterior walls, without firebreaks. So the fire had spread to the 3rd floor above us while we were battling it in the basement and pool house.
As soon as the windows gave, the fire got fed and boom, thru the roof. Didn’t take much.
We were basically pissing in the wind from jump.
It’s unfortnuate to lose a house, but there isn’t a department on this earth better than ours, nor anyone that could have stopped it from it’s origin.
shite happens. We all went home safe and the occupant we pulled out survived. We won!

Damn. That’s sad.

I know the old lady’s son Chris. He’s the facilities manager at Carrollton. He grew up in that house.

Very sad.

So any idea what caused it?

I would at least put the hose on top the car under the car, something. They block it they get hosed.

Probably cheaper to replace two windows instead of repaint the top of the car.
