I could see the actual flames from one shell square about an hour ago. Now its only smoke so hopefully that means the fire is out.

there was an elderly lady inside the home at the time firefighters arrived... they quickly got her out to safety
when the order was given for firefighters to evacuate the building... 1 firefighter got lost for a bit but was eventually able to get out of the building ok... was checked out by EMS and should be fine

Think it started in the rear in some sort of annex house, then jumped over then went up to the 3rd floor. Saw something about a propane tank.

Born & raised in NOLA. Grew up in Lakeview.
Always loved cruising up St. Charles radio loud beautiful day & passing that house & wondering what it looked like inside. Never got to.
Looks old world exquisite!

yeah. I was listening to the NOFD on the scanner it seemed to be the initial observation of the first on the scene and I suppose there was so much smoke in the back when they got there it would hard to tell.
