Anyone either a distributor or reseller know what R22 is selling for per pound? Interested in reseller and customer costs if you have them. TIA

Last I looked they are around 200k total so per pound about $227.27. Great deal for this beast though...

2 months ago a 30# drum was $850 at a supply house here.

$40/ # is a good budget price.

So $50/pound is reasonable for HVAC to customer cost then?

I've heard anywhere from $40-$85. I heard as high as $100 only a few times.

My wife just paid $500 to have 4lb put in our A/C to "hold us over" until the whole unit can be replaced.
I was not happy.

If you can get a tech to install the R-22 for $50/ pound, you need to pay that immediately.

is the same tech doing your replacement work? i'd ask for them to cut you a little slack - shite they already bent you over.

Might as well tack on an additional $5k then.

Thanks obama/EPA
Um...yeah...no....
In 1987, The Montreal Protocol brought together 190 countries to establish a schedule for the phase-out of ozone depleting CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons).
In 1992, an amendment to the Montreal Protocol established a schedule for the phase-out of HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons). The R22 phase out plan was born. HCFCs are less harmful to the ozone layer, but still contain ozone destroying chlorine, and contribute to global warming.
The Montreal Protocol was instituted in the US by the EPA through Title IV of the Clean Air Act.
As an air conditioning equipment manufacturer, I fight against tighter EPA and DOE regulations on a daily basis.

I work for a distributor and my brother owns a larger HVAC company. I sell it for 650 give or take 25 for a 30lb drum, so 22/lb. He charges 100/lb.
