How are they going to deal with fire and police protection?
The same places they do now. The area is not in the city and thus doesn't use city services. Fire is by the st George fire district and law enforcement is done by the EBR sheriff's department. Water and trash is handled by private companies currently as well

All of the mall anchor stores are in SG, two hospitals are in SG, PetrkinsRowe, Siegen Village and a lot of other businesses are in SG.

Sheriff patrols SG now, city police does not.
SG already has their own FD, BRFD does not cover SG.

Because we've been effectively silenced. You think the group of tards in the metro council is going to change their mind?
You do realize that the Ebr city council has a 7 to 5 republican majority and that they also don't have much sway with school decision making as you alluded too.
i laugh every time someone on here thinks BR is "going down." My steadily increasing property values and those around me say otherwise.

NBR is sinking, but most of the city is doing fine.

I grew up in Baton Rouge and consider it home. I helped the St George folks gather signatures last time, when Kip did us dirty by trying to get the mall and casino to de-fund us,then got the new registrar to invalidate just enough signatures.
I live in Houston now. I see my tax dollars actually working. My daughter walks to her highly rated public school down the street. I miss family, but getting out really showed me how pitiful it is for Baton Rouge to keep clinging so tightly to a crappy status quo. It's a real mess where the inmates run the asylum.
I hope to God people either stop being generationally worthless or St George gets a chance for good schools finally. EBRPSS is an embarrassment to everyone there. Seacrest out.
