I get unlimited data every month, which is really 60GB, with Straight Talk which runs on Verizon. I'll be dammed if I'm paying Verizon $100/month plus for 10GB of data. That's just dumb.

Oh and I flashed a universal ROM so I can use it as an unlimited hotspot on their network as well.

Good grief.

How trailer park or urbanite do you have to be to use a prepaid cell phone?

Or fiscally intelligent and avoid paying more for less.

Ive used it for about 4 years now. No difference as far as I can tell. The phones that are considered "prepaid" phones suck, but you can use whatever you like as far as I can tell. But you wont be able to finance a phone so be prepared to be treated like absolute crap when doing so. They take great offense to you not paying monthly for a phone and purchasing outright. Will never go contract again, total scam

Or, your none of those things, and realize you can get a cell phone service that works just as well for half the cost.

Exactly.

From what I read you can also buy Verizon prepaid cards on eBay at a discount ($40 card for $30) for even more savings.

But maybe that's too complicated for the OT. Money board would understand

I've been thinking about switching to Verizon prepaid as well. $45 for 16 GB/month weeks like a pretty good deal to me.

I think I'm just going to start buying all my phones unlocked too, so no need to worry about financing my phone through a carrier.

I went from paying nearly $300 a month for two lines to $70 for two lines. If that makes me trailer park then so be it.
