Note there is “CBD” oil and “hemp” oil

Hemp oil is fake garbage

Some shops will try to sell it as CBD

Marijuana can be used to treat a handful of conditions, BUT for each of those conditions, more effective drugs are already widely available.

The exception may be as an appetite stimulant in certain patients.

But the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy late last year and again last month issued guidance that any product extracted from a marijuana plant, including cannabidiol or CBD oil, is classified as a Schedule 1 narcotic, thus is illegal in Louisiana’s Controlled Dangerous Substance Law.

Dumbass state legislation.

The guidance from the pharmacy board also states that Lousiana law does not make any distinction between CBD extracted from hemp and CBD extracted from marijuana. As a result, both are considered to be marijuana and are illegal under Louisiana law.

Holy shite, what a crock of shite.

I hate this state sometimes.

CBD oil that contains any amount of THC is illegal, no matter how minuscule and insignificant the amount.

All CBD oil contains some miniscule amount of THC, usually like 0.01%. Now it may not be labeled that way on bottle and I think under a certain % they can legally say “contains no THC.

It is impossible to completely purify it.

Yeah... I am not advocating this product.. but it would be interesting to have this approach challenged in a court of law. Not sure the States position would hold up

In 2-3 years the state will vote to legalize CBD oil, and that vote will barely pass.

Then in another 10 years we'll have a vote on recreational marijuana.... after 47 other states have already passed it.

At this point we can blame the Board of Pharmacy.

Current guidance
quote:

Louisiana’s controlled substance law includes CBD oil in the definition of marijuana.

All marijuana products shall comply with the rules adopted for the state medical marijuana program; they must have a known source as well as known quantities of active ingredients.

Further, they may only be dispensed by marijuana pharmacies licensed by the Board of Pharmacy.Since marijuana is listed in Schedule I of the state’s list of controlled substances, no one, including board licensees, may possess or sell CBD oil.

Board of Pharmacy Guidance Doc

Found a quote from the ATC Commissioner. It's as bad as you'd expect.

quote:

“Hemp, marijuana and CBD are like Baskin-Robbins. They’re different flavors, but at the end of the day they are all ice cream," Marine-Lombard said.

How is it possible that the head of the ATC could be so obtuse?

CBD oil is a fake medicine. It has no curative qualities beyond a placebo effect. There is no scientific evidence that it's more than a simple oil derivative of marijuana and hemp plants.

Based on emotion.

There really aren't a ton of medical studies, and that truly is a shame. We should research all drugs for their utility in treating various diseases.

BUT what has been studied reveals mediocre results at best for a handful of conditions.
