Anyone here read 'The Prince' by Machiavelli?

About 2/3 of the way through right now. Fantastic book, and easy read.

I like when a classic is enjoyable...even a half a millenium after writing.

I read it in grad school. The term Machiavelli has become a devil term in our culture through the centuries, but there is not much that I recall in it that is worse than our current political climate.

He doesn't encourage doing what he describes because he believes it's morally right. He encourages it IF a prince wants to remain alive and in power. It's not his fault that what he suggests is what's required; he espouses that humans being naturally wicked drives the need to do these things.

I started The Art of War, but got bogged down pretty quickly.

The Prince is much more "accessible".
