I know a guy named Burt but with a different last name and in a different state. Crazy what a small world it is when you really think about it after getting pretty plastered.

Small sidetrack. I’m in my late 40’s and only recently realized that only people from Louisiana call it an ice chest. Everywhere else in the world it’s a cooler. Did not know that. It’s completely a Louisiana term.

Haven't seen many Boudreauxs in South Dakota but I did see many in Louisiana.

Wouldn't it be Burt Guidry's luck that he told his wife he was going golfing with his buddies at the beach for the week, when in fact he is going to Gatlinburg with his mistress?

That would be most unfortunate. If his wife was reading this.

"No, honey, that must have been some other Burt Guidry."

How old were you when you found out it wasn’t a hose pipe?

I’m surprised people understand the reference to be honest. I wouldn’t take the OT to be full of a bunch of Friends fans but I’m glad to know there are others here.

In that case, his ice chest has held up very well.

I've heard the term ice chest outside Louisiana.
But, that's where the wife and her family are from, so maybe that's where I always hear it.

Am I reading this right? You were browsing on a message board and was speechless because you found out someone can drive and read at the same time? What do you think billboards are for?
Cringe, buddy.

Burt is a drug runner. Has one arm. Rolls deep, hence the caravan.

Really? I didn’t know that. I moved to Houston so there are a ton of us here but I still get called out on how I talk pretty regularly. I’ve been told often that I sound very much like I’m from Louisiana, by the terms I use. I didn’t realize I was a swamp rat until I moved.

I've lived in Houston and BR for most of my life and use both terms. In general when I think ice chest it refers to something with hard sides and insulated, maybe with wheels. A cooler is typically soft sided, not as much insulation, maybe a strap for easier carrying.

Burt Guidry had himself an ice chest.
