I know an older lady who won $100k in the lottery a few years ago in Carlsbad NM.
I met a family in MI back in early 2000's that had won around $20 million in the lottery.
This past Saturday I met a dude who won $503k last summer in a slot machine at Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso NM.
Last January when one of the lotteries was close to a billion an oil field Mexican won $2 million on a ticket purchased at the gas station across the street from where I purchased my tickets, Loving NM.
Friends of some friends won $10 million in the lottery about 5 years ago in Las Cruces NM.
Some other friends of friends in Roswell NM won a multi-million dollar payout from the lottery a fews years ago.
Personally, my biggest win in the lottery is about $5.

First time I played I spent $5 and won $25. Figured I could invest that $25 back and at the least make my $5 back. I got nothing, so ended up losing $5. Never done it again, playing it small isn't worth it and playing it big is too expensive for the risk. Plus I'm poor as shite so screw that, I'll just try to work more.

I know a guy, pretty well, that hit a $5 scratch off for $75k.
He rode to the store across the state line with a buddy of his and only had $3 cash on him so he borrowed $2 from his buddy. His buddy bought the ticket before and after his off the roll and just so happens that the middle one hit.
I would have the buddy's luck, not the guy I know that won.
I know another guy who has hit for $1k off scratch offs a few times.
The only time we ever play is the occasional scratch off or when the Powerball gets up really, really high.
If we didn't live 10 mins de the TN line we wouldn't play that often.

I had a co-worker win $2,500 on a scratch off that he got during a Chinese Auction at the company Christmas Party.

Won $500 on a $10 scratch off. That's all I got. Came within 1 ticket of winning a 1 million scratch off 4 years ago. I bought a 50x the money scratch off once every month from the same BP station. Bought one one day and got nothing. Came in the next day to get a Powerade and the clerk told me that the lady who bought the next 50x behind me won a million. Of course, within a few days the lottery office had supplied th BP with signs to place around the store advertising that a million dollar ticket had been sold there. frick my luck.

I can't help but to dream about hitting it big one day.
You'd be much better off just playing your $5 on red every week

I know a lawyer who has represented big lottery winners. Once the money is claimed, he tells them to go on an extended vacation so all the new "relatives" won't come around begging for money. He also tells them to put aside some money to go blow - gets it out of their system. He also advises them to avoid buying items that have high maintenance costs (such as airplanes). He's never had one go broke yet.

Anytime you win anything you're besting the odds...won $5 a couple of times. Only play it when it gets massive

All I need is a solid $500k to do a full reset on life. Pay off all my debt and go back to school for a couple of years. Get a associates in CS, a bachelors in MIS. I may even spring for an extra year and get a masters in stats or econ.

Mine and my wife's company bonus comes in at about 225 k every March. Cost me $16 about 22 years ago for a marriage license. Best lottery ticket I ever bought.

Several years back, one of the ladies that works for me made a comment about another employee asking for all the hours he could get. I asked a little further and she said he had won lottery a while back, took the 20 year payment plan, was a few million. I tell you if you saw the guy, you would never know a thing. Drove a modest truck, lived in a modest house . I know that's not true life changing money, but it was obvious that he took the money and did the right things with it so it would last or could leave it to his kids.

I won $2 on a ticket given to me by my financial adviser for my birthday. That's a pretty good return I thought.

Girlfriend's grandfather won $2 million then a couple years later won close to another million (think it was around $750k).
