The only out of body experience I have ever had was the first time I saw my wife at our wedding when she walked out.

I've had only what I can describe as OBEs when I'm in between sleeping and awake. Its really bizzare but I realize I'm in a dream and sometimes I'll enter a state of sleep paralysis and feel these vibrations. If I concentrate I can speed up these vibrations to the point that I feel like I get thrown out of my body. Then I just feel weightless in the space above my bed and just float around the room. I've been experiencing this on and off when I was a kid but it seemed to peak in my 20's.

There are hundreds of websites that discuss this phenomenon and they all describe these weird vibrations that are felt prior to OBEs. I dont believe my soul is leaving my body or that anything mystical is happening but I cant deny that it does happen to me and I cant explain it.

Any time I mix benadryl melatonin and a six pack I feel as though my body is free from this earth.

I coded. Stopped breathing, heart stopped beating. As I’ve said before, I don’t remember any of it. My last memory of that night was I was sitting in the recliner in my hospital room and two nurses were telling me they were going to put me back in bed. This was about 6:00 PM. The next thing I knew it was 1:00 AM and I was waking up in my bed with a breathing tube down my throat. Everything between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM is a complete blank.

My wife was in there for the whole thing. She told me they got me in the bed and started working on me to see why I was fading. About 9:00 PM they were still working on me and trying to start an IV in my neck. She said I was still awake and begging them to help me breathe. I tried sitting up and then said “I’m sorry”. That’s when I coded. They rushed her out of the room and started resuscitation on me. They rushed me to the OR and opened my chest back up and discovered I’d been hemmoraging from the sutures in my heart (I’d just had open heart surgery 7 days before) and I’d virtually bled to death by that point. What stopped my heart was the membrane around my heart had filled with blood to the point my heart couldn’t beat any more. They opened a “window” in the membrane to drain the blood and insterted drain tubes back in my chest. They gave me blood transfusions to get me back going.

I didn’t see anything or experence anything that I can remember. All I took from it was PTSD and some brain damage.

In fact I noticed that if I have been regularly smoking for a while then abruptly stop for a while (which I did a lot in my 20s) the rate of these experiences increased.

No. Mostly short term memory loss. I can remember things from years ago but I struggle remembering recent things. Also have trouble spelling andceven sometimes do things like writing letters backwards.

I guess it depend on your definition of real. There is likely something physiological explanation but it does feel like I'm no longer in my body and I'm just a free floating entity. Like I said check out any website dealing with this phenomenon and pretty much everyone describes the same thing especially the weird vibrational state that some describe as passing through a membrane of some kind. I'm happy to answer any questions the best I can .

Is anyone in bed with you when this happens to see if you exhibit any outward signs of this?

ETA: This is pretty cool to read about... I didn't think he was going to get any real responses

Also, I just ate two bite-size dark chocolates to conclude my lunch.
