No, I didn't, however you just included a perfect example of someone that overcame their upbringing/situation. His family is now set for life....better than mine I might add.

Get this shite out of here. You "give up" your time to earn income for yourself. You should feel lucky that "someone" was willing to hire you.

work for myself......

It's their money. What's the issue?

What is money? Why do useless people get to keep it and hoard it? I mean I get most wealthy people are very intelligent and have worked extremely hard, but what is the point in having more money than you can spend in 3 generations.

Do we even want a more fair society?

It doesn't come any more fair than our current system. Anyone, I do mean anyone, can become wealthy in our current system. Only the lazy want a "more fair system".

Not really true. Honestly if enjoying my 70 years here in others ways than work is lazy, I'm lazy. I just don't think this is the best we can do. How about we have society that has minimal personal competition and increase corporate competition?

Exactly. Anyone that doesn't understand this needs to go spend some time around the poor. They make tons of terrible decisions every day. People want to feel bad for people, yet the vast majority of the poor are very lazy and make bad decisions to stay poor on a daily basis.

I'm not talking title 9, wic and welfare poor, I'm talking middle class poor....less than 40,000 a year.

Like the working poor....

Compared to someone who also works their arse off and doesn't save? You can't just assume I am talking about lazy stupid people lol

1) Get married
2) Get an education and/or additional job training
3) Stay where you are and move up the ladder.

It's that easy.

at a certain point the money itself becomes irrelevant. you don't become wealthy by focusing on money. you become wealthy by maximizing the efficiency of what led to the accumulation of your money. if your idea is sound and your execution is great, you will become rich/wealthy

$40K? First off that's like top 10% of earners in the world.

Secondly, if 2 people can't make more than $40k by the age of 30 then they have made bad decisions and are lazy in their careers, That's $16 hour for 50 hours a week.

Lastly, on $40k a year you are not poor unless you make poor financial decisions. That's plenty to afford to but a 1000 sq ft house in 99% of America, 2 used cars, and enjoy a better life than 99% of the human population has ever enjoyed.

So again, why is that life so bad?

either those people made a bunch of bad decisions or they are doing some sort of public interest industry where money is secondary (like teachers or social workers). people who want to make money and are stuck at 40k/year made some bad decisions along the way (esp in places like south LA where you don't even need education to get to 6-figures at a young age)

Listen man. I've seen how some of the public schools are run in New Orleans. Those kids are not being given a fair chance.

Between their shite home lives (not blaming that on the government) and the ABSOLUTE SHITE schools they attend (corrupt local governments fault) their chances of succeeding in this world are slim to none.

Don't get me wrong, I grew up MUCH more privileged than those kids, and as a 28 y/o I'm doing very well for myself, I just do not think it's fair to say that everyone has the same chance.

School choice. It's an awesome thing.

Education is determined primarily by parental involvement. However, it doesn't change the fact that these kids are given the opportunity to learn and create a life for themselve3s.

their families are to blame. the schools can't fix bad culture creating bad families who raise these kids

no. it's the culture and families' faults

good families and good culture creates good students. good students create "good schools". the myth that government can somehow correct these issues with education is pure fantasy

No one says the did, and there's no system that guarantees people the "same chance."

However they have the same opportunity

You can't win at life or economics, open your mind. Why are you competing against people who will only be in your existence a short time? whats the point?

what choice does a poor kid have in the school he attends besides the one he is zoned for?

Idk how things work in Alaska but not everyone has "school choice" down here
