I attended my first Vipassana retreat in 2008, and after surviving the hell of the first three days was able to begin focussing. I didn't think of alcohol, cut way down on cigarettes, my depression was gone, stress was gone. It's not a miracle cure, because you work for the progress you make, but it helps in many aspects, sleep being one.

I go to sleep between 1 and 3 am and wake up at 6 every day. I hate it, but it has been life for a while.

-- Melatonin (start at smaller doses)
-- L-Theanine (helps shuts down over-active minds)
-- Magnesium Glycinate ( relaxes muscles)
-- Glycine (helps prevent mind over-stimulation among many other benefits)
-- Ashwaghandha (stress reducer, adaptogen)
-- Lavender oil sniff right before bed
-- Hot Bath / Shower before bed
-- Do not eat anything after 6:00pm
-- Blue Light glasses for LED screens -- also lower the light intensity (prevents over stim)
-- Shut down internet browsing 2 hours before bed (Do NOT glance at your phone in the middle of the night)
-- Light stretch before bed
-- Go get regular professional messages to un-knot your muscles (not the happy ending kind

Can’t recommend these enough. Low dose THC + CBD. It’s an edible I guess, but just a pill you swallow. One of our resident drug experts might know if it’s enough THC to hit on a piss test. Works great and wake up feeling great. No hangover or lethargic feelings like otc sleep meds.
