We got the GE nugget one. It works really well. It wasn't cheap though

I have a a GE Profile Opal countertop nugget ice maker and love it. Not sure it has the capacity for a large party, but has been great for our family. It refills faster than I thought it would.
ETA good timing!

I love mine. Use it because we are on well water and have jugs for drinking. It will make up to 24 pounds in a day if you can keep up with emptying the bin into the freezer.

I have one. It’s a Frigidaire with a auto-clean function and it’s going on 2 years. Use only distilled water if you get one.

My wife bought one a few years ago that is pretty bad arse. The part the liquid goes in is kept in the freezer always. It must have some type of liquid inside that has a super low freeze point because it is ice coooooold for over an hour. She makes up the ice cream slurry, chills it in fridge, and then it goes into the container for churning. No ice required and the ice cream gets really thick.
Has a Ben & Jerry’s recipe book. Their sweet cream recipe is damn good.

check to see that it's not in some sort of energy saving mode
The energy saving mode on my fridge just turns off the heater for the front doors. The heater is to prevent condensation forming on the outside. I'm sure all fridges are different, but energy saving isn't a problem for mine.
I have a Samsung, and had an icemaker problem too. There was an issue with the model shipped with the fridge. The heating element in the ice maker itself wasn't working and the ice wouldn't eject properly - if at all. Had an appliance guy come out and replace the part, and it's worked fine ever since. It keeps up with a family of 4 who uses a lot of ice.

I have a countertop sonic ice maker and it is my favorite appliance.
We keep it in a hallway closet between the garage and kitchen so it's out of the way. I don't think I've used the ice in the fridge for anything other than for my small ice chest.
Mine is an Opal, but I think they were bought out by GE.

The problem with the countertop ice makers is that they don't hold ice/keep it frozen.
I just got one recently when the icemaker in my fridge went out. Just used the icemaker to make a couple buckets full, then dumped it in the dispenser in my fridge to keep frozen and so I could keep dispensing ice like normal.
They can spit out ice really fast if you're in a bind for a party, so that's nice. But they'll melt in your drink pretty fast because they're not as cold as they would be coming out of a freezer. The first day I got it I let it run all day and filled up several gallon size ziplocs to store in my outside freezer for when I need it.

I use one to supplement my fridge icemaker for cocktail parties…guess I could have just bought a bag of ice….
They are ok…you can set them for continuous and as ice melts it recirculates to remake ice to help prevent from filling it all the time…
I actually wanted it for the ice texture… I like ice balls for drinks like sazerac (Stirred cocktail) and small cubes for fruity cocktails (shaken cocktail). You can set the cube size and make small cubes….
