Anyone following the Ray Brandt Estate Saga?

LINK
Cliff Notes:
Ray Brandt owned a number of car dealerships and collision repair centers in LA and MS. He was very successful. He died of cancer a little over a year ago.
He had no children. At some point, he married (or maybe re-married, I don't know) a lady who had children and grandchildren. He executed a will in 2010 that left everything to the wife. He executed wills in 2015, and another one right before his death in 2019, that left the assets to trusts that would ultimately benefit the wife's grandchildren. The 2019 trust, named the principal of Rummel HS as the trustee.
Also at some point shortly before his death, he legally adopted the adult-age grandchildren.
Wife doesn't like this one bit, so sues to have the 2019 and 2015 wills tossed. She wins. The 2010 will is now in effect, which places her in charge of everything.
All these people live in neighboring houses by Metairie CC, all of which are part of the estate. Mom is trying to now evict her child and grandchildren, so she can sell the houses.
Remember friends, mo' money, mo' problems.

He also oddly bought Pascals Manale shortly before he died.

I told all my kids I was going to make a will for them and they all busted out laughing, even my wife laughed

shite like that shouldn’t be allowed if Ray Brandt was of sound mind. Dude changed his mind over the course of 9 years. Is that so hard to believe?
Sounds like he loved his step children and grandchildren more than he loved their mom

I can't imagine why she would win that case.

It's bad enough when a wife does this to screw over the dead guy's kids.
She's screwing over HER OWN kids.

I have no idea how those wills got thrown out. I was around him sometime around 2019 ish and he was cognizant as could be

*and grandkids.
ETA: And yeah, how the hell did she win that case that BOTH recent wills were thrown out and the one naming her the sole benefactor wins out? Is the judge in on something? Is he/she high?

Agreed. Judge tossed both the 2015 and 2019 wills out on a technicality. I can see perhaps, given cancer, he might not have been of sound mind on the 2019 will. But, that would not apply to the 2015 will.
Will be interesting to see if judge is reversed upon appeal.

In the wise words of Michael Jordan, "frick them kids."

Tossed on a technicality by this judge. Doesn't even seem like they looked into if he was cognizant.

Family courts and estate courts have judges that are shady AF

Which I’m guessing Ray Brandt became aware of her being capable of doing some low down shite like that sometimes after 2010.....which is why he changed his will

This is extremely unfortunate. Ray was a good guy, and absolutely of completely sound mind when both of these wills were executed.
