Barbier is a goof. Having had him hear a trial that I was involved in, I got the feeling he just doesn't give a shite about the law, and just takes the path of least resistance.

This.

Judge Barbier asks about National Registry of Historical Places. "A lot of people think it is protected if on the list. What does that do?"

Sad thing is that this whole controversy started with Landrieu and not any local or national black group. He said he was driving around the circle one day & felt that he would be embarrassed if his son asked him why General Lee was being honored. Simply catering to his family's constituents & presumably angling for a cush job with Hillary's administration if she wins. He's dead in the water re any possible future elected State official.

Embarrassed because he obviously failed history class and is a shitty father who can't answer a simple question from his son?

that's pretty much why most people who are against it are against it

there was no push from ANYONE in the city to take them down other then Landrieu himself on a whim after the shooting at the church in SC

the city has much bigger fish to fry than some statues... a skyrocketing murder rate being the main thing

and at the time Landrieu was in danger of being put under house arrest for contempt of court due to the firefighter pay dispute (which I'm not even sure is fully resolved yet... did the firefighter's union ever vote on the agreement?)

but it seems like if the city can't find a contractor to do it... then nothing's going to happen

you honestly think they wont find some minority-owned construction company who would jump at the chance to wreck these statues?

1. He doesn't drive anywhere.
2. His sons hate him.

what construction are they doing right there? The only construction i see is next to the cemetery. Unless they are talking abut the construction of the actual neutral ground

If they come down, I'm asking that tourists boycott New Orleans this Mardi Gras.

A city that wants to turn their back on history isn't worth visiting, or wasting money in.
