Anyone ever really stop and think about how retarded sports are?

Grown men sitting around cheering other half naked men on as they play with balls?
What has happened to us as a society? It used to be we would man up and do things that were considered much more productive in life like starting and participating in world wars.
Now we just sit around and play with balls. Not necessarily anything wrong with that; but if we're going to play with a set, let's play like MEN.
The more I think about it, the less I understand the lure of sports.

The older I have gotten, the less I find myself interested in sports as much as other things. I still check in on the couple of teams that I am in ways tied to, but gone are the days when I can dedicate 6-8 hours out of a weekend to watch them. If there is a big game and I can watch it with friends, I do that occasionally.
Since this has happened, I find myself more interested in reading and spending time with family, and doing things outdoors like hiking, biking and working on projects that fill up my time.

contact sports are a modern iteration of tribal combat.
There is something in our primal essence that craves them.
You don your tribal colors and watch battle by proxy. Studies have shown your testosterone levels can rise and fall depending on how good your team is doing.
So no, they aren't as stupid as you think.

Oh yeah. It's pretty fricking absurd. It's the glorification of entertainment. You can go down quite a rabbit hole if you think about it. It's a good part of what Infinite Jest by DFW is about.
