My first world struggles are for real...

Have white privilege is a definite burden.

About $1,400 per person. I think it is a round of 9 shots and they are in the leg not the stomach like they use to be.

I don't think many pest control companies claim to know anything about bats.

I didn't know they claimed to do that. Call Billiot's , they service my house and do a great job. I assume you are on the Northshore right?

This sounds kind of obsessive considering the average American swallows 7 bats in their sleep every year

How many more times do you have to get shots 2-3?

1 shot Monday (6-12) Friday (6-16) then the following Friday (6-23). Minor inconvenience which could've been avoided .

We had a colony in our carport for years...we all loved hearing/watching them leave at dusk and return at dawn. Never worried about rabies. Those little guys sure made a fuss when I had the smoker going!

Bet your girls are pissed.

They are weight based, as you already know. Hope you aren't a big baw. Or any of your girls are big. The vaccine is no worse than any shot. but that immune globulin is a bitch. And with no wounds you are doubly screwed. The wound is supposed to be injected with some of the med. No wound and a large enough patient and you run out of muscles to inject.

Good luck man.

We left the flu open once and a bat came into the study. Took us a couple of days but we finally caught the little guy. He was just hanging out from one of the book shelves. Coaxed him into a cardboard box, took him outside, even scratched his back a little bit with my index finger. We he finally had enough he flew off. Everyone lived happily ever after. Getting the shots seems a bit excessive if there are no indications of infection.

I'm no doctor, but most aren't chiroptologist, so I'm thinking this is probably a case of the doctor having been influenced by the stigma of bats - that they're all rabid vermin - and not by actual knowledge.

Bats are no more likely to have rabies than any other mammals.

I would definitely call a specialist (chiroptologist) before I'd freak out.

The chance of rabies exposure in this situation seems very, very low, BUT it is just not worth the risk. Rabies in people is highly fatal once symptoms begin. Do the preventative shots and know that everyone will be fine.

I agree. People freaking out for nothing. I wonder how much the doctor is making on this hype.

Post-exposure injections in 1985.
Don't remember it being too bad.
