I had it a few months ago. It was discovered during a routine dermatologist appt. I have to see the dermatologist every six months because I had basil cell skin cancer on my nose and had it removed by a Mohs procedure. The squamous cell was on my upper thigh. Weird location for skin cancer I thought. They cut it out and stitched it up and another biopsy said that it was gone. I have not been getting a lot of sun the last few years, but the doctor said that this stuff can come from years past. I used to get lots of sunburns when I was a kid and young adult.

UPDATE
I had the cancer cut out today. The doctor got most of it doing Mohs surgery but had to go in a second time to get some that he missed. Fifteen stitches. I'm sore but not really in pain.
They took pictures during the process and let me see them. There is a pretty nice gash below my eye and a plastic surgeon could be in my future. On the other hand the gash does look pretty badass and I might want to just keep the scar. If so then I am going to tell people that I got it in a cutlass duel while looting a freighter off the Spanish Main.
