. A couple of nights ago was the first time I tried to yell out while it was happening and I couldn't. Just made a low groan. shite sucks.

that exactly how it happened to me at first. I was like 17 or so.

Now it only happens when my sleep is thrown off. Like I had wedding month or so ago in nola then a 4 hour drive that Sunday. I was beat, passed out the second I hit the bed. Was having a dream about my neighbor knocking on the door, tried to get up go open it, could not get up, i can see her screaming at the door after minute of panicking I figured out I was dreaming. Woke up and was locked to my bed for a minute or so.

It's similar to The Old Hag, that fr33 has referenced on here before.

I'm just glad I've never had any of the hallucinations that sometimes accompany it.

I dunno....seen a shadowman a cpl times from corner of eye while watching tv....not sure if this is a variation on the hag thing...which to me seems like an interdimensional demon....that some see and most do not.

It has happened to me probably 15-20 times. It is the absolute worst thing ever.

Used to happen to me fairly regularly in my late teens and early 20s. I'm mid 30s and it hasn't happened to me in several years. I'm not sure what causes it or what changed so that it hasn't happened to me in a long time.

Every few months I'll wake up in the night and I can't move my body for 20-30 seconds. My eyes are open and I'm conscious, but I can't move my body at all or even talk.

Sounds like polio.

People here call it different things, there are a couple of different camps of thought.

It's a dream with me.Seems real.I'm lying there and can't move even though I'm straining to move.Usually I hear a noise in the house.

Once I was straining my whole body and kind of launched off the side of the bed like a seal.

Yeah the 2nd paragraph best describes what I felt. The first and only time this happened was shortly after my dad died.

Happened to me several times in 45 years.

Most recent was about 2 years ago. Woke up but could not move a thing. Tried to scream my wife's name for help but it was only coming out as a very quiet moan. Thought I saw a silhouette out of the corner of my eye in the door approaching my bed but thought it was my wife coming to help. But it wasn't my wife. It was a greenish black shadow that bent down to within an inch of my face and started shrieking like a wildcat in the mid of the night. My bed was then shoved across the room violently into my armoire, knocking over my pewter chess collection set. I was finally able to move again and I started punching wildly but my hands were going through the shadow except For one time where I hit something solid. I felt it and it caused my hand to bleed. The shadow man floated backwards in the air and grinned sinisterly at me and when it did I noticed I had knocked its front teeth out. In a stupor, it briefly collapsed on my dirty laundry pile. I walked a step forward and said open the door , get off the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur. For real though, the first part happened up until I saw a shadow in the door I presumed was my wife.
