Anyone Ever Been To Rip Van Winkle Gardens In New Iberia?

On Jefferson Island. Neat place to spend a few hours. Lots of wildlife and a good restaurant. You can also do Avery Island in the same day.

I didn't realize it was that close to Avery Island. For some reason I was thinking Avery Island was further west.

Do Avery Island in the morning. Then eat lunch at Jefferson Island and walk off (roll off) lunch at Rip Van Winkle Gardens.

There used to be a Buddha statue encased in glass there... probably still there.

When I went there as a child in the early 1980s, there was a dead lizard inside the glass with Buddha. It had decayed into just a skeleton. I guess there was no quick / easy way to go in there and clean it out.

Probably been dust for years if not decades now, but that memory has always stuck with me.
