Anyone else the “lucky” recipient of double state tax return?

They sent my refund via efile. I’ve contacted my bank and explained the situation and they gave me a number to call...absolutely no help. The 1-800 number for Louisiana revenue is of the Children of the corn variety. My tax preparer said she’s never dealt with an overpayment and is unsure how to solve the issue. “I’m sure they will just take it out of your account when the notice the mistake.” That’s not exactly comforting.

The state took the money back out of my account within 48 hours. The initial direct deposit never got passed the pending stage. They will get their money back. I’d recommend not touching it if you were double refunded.

Pretty sad that all you takers are on the dole and get a refund. I actually work and have to pay more every year

Also make sure you have at least $1000 more than you need in there. They can get a little heavy handed when they take it back out.

The “sucks to be you” tone was inspirational.

I would 100% open up another account and just leave it in there and do not touch it.

Don’t think for 2 seconds, they won’t garnish your wages just to get it

I love these types of comments.

If I pay $250,000 in federal income taxes throughout the year, but then have a tax calculation of only $249,000, I get a refund of $1,000.

Refund =\= no tax paid.

No, I don’t pay state taxes. I’m a Texan.
