Flew in a small plane from Laf to Monroe for the top 28 and was white knuckles there and back
if I had to choose i’d rather a small plane. you lose control of a chopper mid air and there’s no recovery for that

People say driving is more dangerous than flying, and it’s true. However, I have comfort knowing I can control my car. I cant control a plane or helicopter, and I hate that feeling of helplessness.
Yup. When you realize 90% of traffic fatalities are preventable (drunk driving, driving while distracted, not following the rules of the road etc) the statistics play heavily in your favor

I was talking to a guy once that was a retired Army helicopter pilot and flew offshore in Gulf.He told me flying in Grand Canyon and cities like New York and Chicago, with the skyscrapers, was very dangerous and he would never do it.He said wind was not predictable, gusts could hit you from random directions bouncing off the walls of the canyon or the skyscrapers.
I was kinda surprised he could fly helicopters, his feet were crippled up from being shot down in Vietnam. He could walk though so obviously didn’t hurt his ability to fly.

do you still drive a car? Are you aware of how many people died in a car accident yesterday?

It’s crazy that this has to explained after hoards of “durrr do you drive??!” posts everytime this topic is brought up
You don’t have any control over EVERYONE else on the road, so that’s a false sense of security

Not just small, I signed off on all flights, I don't need them.
Last flight for me was to Ground Zero, sobering to say the least.

That helicopter crash in Gatlinburg a few years ago was the week I was there. Couldn’t pay me to take a helicopter or small plane anywhere. There’s a reason some life insurance policies exclude them in payouts. Private jets are one thing. But most of these crashes are tiny planes or helicopters that people share. It’s like a rental car for the air. No thanks.
