By the way, if you take the same test be careful how quickly you respond. The correct sentence is “Do you like real big cities?”

Why would anyone want to cheat in a hearing test. I can understand college biology but not a hearing test?

If I drink a lot I’ll have it when I’m lying in bed. WILD.. and really loud.... but it’s only when I drink a lot.

I have it. I am a musician. I've played guitar with loud stage volume, rock and blues, since about 1981 or so. It's annoying but I've learned to live with it. My hearing has suffered somewhat (not much, really) but I can still hear everything. My main problem is that I can't distinguish what one person is saying in a crowd, but I can hear them. I get by. I've been playing guitar for the better part of 45 years and on stage for almost 40. I wouldn't change a damn thing.

I got tinnitus from staying in a hospital for one week. They treated me with large doses of gentamicin which cured my main problem but caused the tinnitus. To sleep at night I hooked up Bose over the ear headphones and play classical guitar music thru my iPod.
You have to make a game of it and try not to take your problems too seriously.

Yep had it for years. 2 15" Cerwin Vega subwoofers in the car as a kid in the 80's did it.

It's a constant ring. Never gets louder or quieter. Just learn to live with it, but when I first noticed it, I though I was going to go insane.

Nah, it was worth it. Ringing in my ears and probably diminished hearing, but life is sucky without loud obnoxious music.

My ears ring all the time, but it's definitely worse when I drink alcohol.

FX-322

quote:

FX-322 is a drug that is under development by a biotech company Frequency Therapeutics. According to the company, FX-322 is designed to treat the underlying cause of sensorineural hearing loss by regrowing or regenerating the sensory hair cells.

A couple of companies are developing something similar.

At least one will make it to market in the next few years.

They should improve hearing, reduce if not cure tinnitus, but also improve balance.

I'm 62 and have had it as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal until I was in my 40's. The quieter the surroundings the louder it becomes. My wife has constantly complained about leaving a television or radio on when I'm reading or not even in the room but I need the background noise. I often wonder what the absence of sound is like.

Yes, they will. You can file for a service connect disability. You go get an exam through the VA, and provide all related documentation from your records to support your case. It then either gets approved at varying percentage or denied. If denied, you can enter into the appeals process. Also, do not get a lawyer. You should go to your Senator or Reps office and ask to speak with a case worker that deals with the VA, and ask the Congressional member to inquiry about your case on your behalf. Basically them expressing interest in your appeal or claim.
quote:

you can hire a lawyer to file an NOD, which preserves your benefits from the date of original filing. The lawyer gets 20% of the past-due benefits if you win.
The VA does not care that you have a lawyer. A lawyer just packages and files the claim for you; which you can do for yourself for free.

I probably have it to some extent...but to make sure I don't suffer when its quiet I installed these behind my sofa. It also fixed the wife talking problem I had

oddly enough it started with sensitivity to certain sudden, loud noises. like plates hitting together to hard or dogs barking.
