Nah. It was a lesser know house in a northern state. Spent my middle and early high school years in that house. Great party place.

Well, you're wrong but that's ok. His houses are infinitely livable for intelligent people.

No, still playing in the minors.

Not liking this widespread panic concerning corona. Common sense hardly ever prevails.

Such a unique experience.

Ha, I bet. A lot of his homes were built for, uh, “entertaining”.

Same here, I felt like I was on the cusp of getting a call this time last month(maybe, maybe not. Just feel like I'm close). Now this bullshite is setting a lot of deserving people back by a couple hundred numbers.

ETA: "couple hundred" being the best case.

That’s the worst, so close you can taste it then something shitshow comes and screws it all up.

bullshite

That’s exactly what this is.

Nah, not even a Perry.

Poorly engineered or not, they look really interesting from the outside. Especially in the light of todays cookie cutter bullshite.

Just remember, there was crap and shacks back then too. Not everybody could afford FLW as an architect. Like today, there are some architects doing some great stuff.

It would be cool if D.R. Horton did more Faux Tudor type houses.

Prefer the Greene and Greene homes, esp their interiors, very elegantly designed craftsman style

I've always liked the Tomek house.
The OP is a Democrat and intentionally picking examples to support his outrageous narrative. FLW's aesthetic use of light and space often go unappreciated by narrow-minded "experts".

Yep. And it’s just as much about him using materials and aesthetics from the surrounding area to not just build but furnish. A look inside at the wood, textures, etc. can be amazing. Even with poor engineering it really inspired that kind of movement.

If you guys like architecture and design, check out The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes on Netflix. There’s some amazing stuff on there. The New Zealand homes they do are maybe some of my favorites and have some FLW influences.

I like his designs because most of them are so unique. My grandmother grew up a block from one of his houses and she was a huge fan of him so it was kind of instilled in me at a young age. I've been to 2 or 3 wedding receptions in the house near where my grandmother grew up.

The Dana Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois.

The first couple of episodes were good.

Later episodes should be labeled;

The World’s Most EXCESSIVE Homes, some were just an Architect's wet dream, over done, with just goofy spaces that were not good to live in.

Well, yeah. Doesn’t make them any less cool to see though. I wasn’t big on some of the minimalist designs (like the one where everything was hidden behind a door/panel).

But some were pretty amazing. In some amazing places.

I always liked his stuff. Not sure I’d want to live with it but it’s really pretty.

Then you are probably not a fan of Harold Levitt either?
