I think it will be a heavy rain event in Houston. Not sure if I would evacuate unless I lived in a low area, but I definitely would plan to stay off the roads that day.

Why are many of you confident that power outages will be an issue? I think of that as more wind-related. While I know there will be tons of rain, I didn't think winds were forecast to be much of an issue in Houston

The last report seemed to have the bulk of the wind in Corpus Christi. Houston will have some flooding though.

20+ inches in 48 hours is serious in any city. I think Houston will see more than that.

I live in the Heights and we've had zero flooding on our street in the past four years. I don't want be stuck without power. Went through that to many times as a kid in LA. I like AC.

I moved from Houston 2 years ago. Within last 4 years I had coworkers who lived in Heights get shite flooded out of their homes. It was when Buffalo flooded all of downtown and sections of interstate were under water with cars flooded everywhere.

I'm at 17th and Sheppard and we have never flooded. My house is also built 3 feet off the ground. But it's never even reached in my garage which is on a slab.

I think they will cancel flights in and out of Houston Sunday through Tuesday.

No special knowledge, just a gut feeling.

I'd leave now. You're braver than I am.
Seriously, with that going on, power could go out, flooding allover in spots trying to get up to Kingwood.

She went to Dr yesterday he said she's good through weekend. I've got 2 hospitals close-ish and there is bound to be a route there in my truck.

I got the last 50 rolls of toilet paper and 60 AA batteries. A slew of IPas and cool ranch Doritos. Thankfully we aren't in the cone of totality here but we aren't out of this neck of the woods just yet.
