It suggests Europeans aren't humans.

a reasonable assertion, but not yet proven beyond doubt

Well then, the only other error is that it suggests the aborigines are human, and not some antediluvian race of terrestrial Morlock.

I do hope the Tasmanian Tigers are still around but to me what I'd really like to see still living is this:

I hope the one they had on display at the small museum at LSU is still on display. I think there was some speculation that one was seen a few years back but I've heard nothing since.

antediluvian
pretty sure that's the first time this word has been used on TD

but let's not be antipodean

No, I used it in the thread about words that aren't used but should be used more often.

And wouldn't it be anti-antipodean?

w/o googling, is it pronounced "anti-podean" or "an-tip-odean"?

be careful how you answer, it's important

I've always said it more like ante-pode-ee-an, but I could well be wrong.

I thought the word nearby was pronounced nerby for a good chunk of my life.

Some think they might still be in New Guinea

I’m a big Forrest Galante fan, I love “Extinct or Alive” and his 3 hour segments on Rogan are incredible. He’s “rediscovered” 6 species classified as extinct.

Fernandina Island tortoise (2019)
Miller's Grizzled Langur (first video)
Pondicherry shark (2020)
Rio Apaporis Caiman
Zanzibar Leopard (possible rediscovery/sighting)
Yangtze giant softshell turtle

quote:

the wildlife biologist and TV host, doesn't believe the thylacine (Tasmanian tiger) is definitively extinct; he's actively searching for living populations, especially in remote parts of Papua New Guinea and Tasmania, convinced that anecdotal evidence and potential habitats suggest small, hidden groups might still exist. He dedicates his work, including his show "Extinct or Alive," to finding these " Lazarus species".
