Hey Walrus, just try to think of something funny that happened in your life. I was really depressed for twenty-three years due to where I worked. Even though I suffered from depression, something always happened at my job that was extremely funny. I left that job after all those years and within a month my depression was gone. I blamed myself for staying at that miserable job. I should have left that job after year three like many of the people I worked with did. Two months ago I was given bad news about my health. I might not be here much longer but I'm not depressed about my health. I learned a long time ago that you should just live day by day. I'm lucky because things could be much worse. I heard a halloween joke today, and it is Why Can't A Witch Get Pregnant? It's because her husband has a Hollow Weenie. Just hang in there.

It’s my favorite holiday.

1. Fun decorations
2. I like haunted houses
3. Kids have fun
4. Adults go to costume parties and get wasted
5. It doesn’t max out the credit card with gift buying

Observed as a holy day of obligation in parts of Western Europe from as early as the year 835, the Feast of All Saints has for centuries begun at vespers on the evening prior, October 31, following the custom of all Sundays and solemnities. Halloween thus announces the earliest possible celebration of the Solemnity of All Saints, a devotional response to a largely pagan world.

Like many feasts on the liturgical calendar, Halloween is an instance of syncretism, the intentioned consecration to God of a formerly pagan festal celebration. The Old Celtic calendar had observed November 1 as the first day of the year, which made October 31 the Old Celtic calendar’s “New Year’s Eve,” a “night of all the witches.”[1] In order to turn the attention of the faithful towards God and away from divination, astrology, clairvoyance, magic, sorcery, occult powers, and spiritism (see Exodus 20:1-3, Deuteronomy 5:6-7, and CCC 2115-17), the Church situated the Solemnity of All Saints in a manner which would turn the evil of pagan culture to some good. No longer would the evening be devoted to “all witches” or “all evil ones”; instead October 31 would be dedicated to All Saints.

I actually like it. I haven’t lived anywhere in a long time where kids actually trick or treat, no one expects gifts, and it’s generally cool for the first time in Louisiana.

Halloween is the best. And I don’t go to church the next day.

I don't hate Halloween. I hate the fact that it has become nothing but scary crap. We had fun on Halloween. Toilet paper, water balloons, black velvet. Now it has become all horror crap and Karens in the trunk.

My wife does. I just dislike it and find it pointless. Same with dogs- she hates them, I just tolerate them.

I don't get people who hate Halloween. Does it impact your life that much?

Then there are people who take it too literal "its a celebration of the devil".

People dress up, kids go around and people give them candy. The Baptist try to have an event that is a watered down version of Halloween where kids can't dress up as anything "scary"

If you don't like it, its very easy to not be involved.

There is one woman in my neighborhood who sees Halloween as being akin to devil worship.
It is. I even suggested to my wife that we could erect an anti-Halloween Christian yard display, with a cross illuminated by brilliant LED lights warding off a group of encircling ghosts (simple bedsheets over tethered mylar baloons). Didn't get around to it this year, but maybe next...

I really enjoy it at 40 years old. I’m catching up for my childhood of living way out bin the country and never trick or treating myself or having them come to our house. But now I live in a subdivision and all our friends and family bring their kids over and walk the neighborhood. We buy finger foods and and we all have a few drinks usually around a fire if it is cool enough.

Halloween and Christmas are the only two holidays that can still make me feel like a kid.

I like scary movies. In fact, I’ve laid out of work 3 days to watch them. The boss is mad but I’m the only engineer that can design elevated platforms in a seismic zone. Hell, I might lay out tomorrow.
