Had to leave all my stuff and look like some broke fool walking out, later found where it fell out in my laptop bag.
I've been saved by mobile pay a few times when this happened. Not sure why but pulling the damn card out is still a habit for me. I guess because plenty of places still don't take it.

This actually happened to me a few weeks ago. It was very embarrassing. Some a-hole compromised my debit card shopping at a Nordstrom’s in Chicago, IL so my bank knew of my location so they cut the card. It’s been a damn nightmare

99.9% of the time when that happens, it’s the machine, the bank, or the magnetic strip

We had to replace them almost daily when we first activated the chip readers.
Hell, I remember when you got promoted to fries.
That was a good day...

After working in retail for 10+ years, there are many factors as to why ancard is declined. Most don't have anything to do with the person's bank account.
We bought a house and my check was declined at the furniture store. The check processing people for the company said that I didn't write enough checks. How about that one?

Not as much as people still writing checks at the checkout line

Uh a credit card decline doesn't mean you're broke.
It could also just mean that the card is bricked and the account was hacked and the company froze the card and have to get a new one.
I had this happen to me before and it was a bitch identifying myself and getting a new card.

I have one American express I use for everything. Why would you need more than one form of payment?

I’ve been in situations were AMEX wasn’t accepted, and I carry 3 diffent AMEX’s, didn’t want to use my Visa Debit or and only other form I had was my Master Card.

When Ahmed from Pakistan steals your CC info and you can’t buy groceries because you have one card.
