When I was newly married, I told my in laws no gifts for Christmas. I asked politely and the first Christmas they must have had 20 gifts for me. A bunch of Clutter with LSU all over it. On the drive home from their house I threw it in a dumpster. My wife asked where it was when she arrived later at the house. I told her.
My inlaws and I have gotten along swimmingly since then.

I absolutely love to give gifts to other people...especially those that might be less fortunate.

It was your first Christmas as their son in law. They likely just wanted to celebrate that or make you feel welcome. But you clearly are too much of an a-hole to see that. Can't believe your wife didn't give you grief for throwing away gifts that her parents gave you.

18 years later, they trust me more than their own 4 kids. they have asked me to be the executor of their estate, and want me to take control of their investments.

I'm not sure what that has to do with being a complete dickhead. You probably enjoy killing domesticated animals and telling people how inferior they are to you.

I rarely keep gifts I'm given. I take them to St. Vincent de Paul though. Somebody will surely use them even if they are crap.

I hate getting gifts unless they are from my 8yr old daughter. Ever since I was about 14 or so I’ve hated it.

I’d rather give as well, but I’ve had to learn that I have to humbly receive gifts so that I don’t cheat someone else out of the great feeling of gift giving as well.

I hear what you’re saying. I don’t mind opening gifts from my wife or kids because they know what I would appreciate

Gifts from my in laws or family that doesn’t really know me can get uncomfortable

I buy girls a drink. They give me a blowjob.

I always feel it's a little unbalanced bit I have learned to live with it

Me. I don't like receiving gifts. I thought I was the only weirdo for feeling that way.

I don't mind giving gifts but I think too much is made of gift giving on that particular day. I would rather help someone during the other 364 days of the year. My 76 year old mother eats that up though. She is like a little kid opening presents and cheering.

I would rather my sister and I put in some cash and make a Christmas dinner that we all enjoy around the table. Have conversation and sharing memories. If I need underwear or socks, I go to Walmart and buy them. Same with the other family members. Why create a financial strain and stress on buying the perfect gift and wrapping them ?

I don’t necessarily like receiving gifts. I also don’t particularly line giving them, unless I have a really good gift in mind I know they’ll enjoy. The whole thing is too much work.

I used to really hate getting gifts from my grandmother because they were worst. Typically a cheap arse pair of pajamas from Stage or a knockoff brand cologne.
