It doesn’t have the “iPad” on the dash. The screens are integrated into the console layout.

This is the worst and laziest trend I have seen lately. And its typical for luxury brands.

The lost iPad is unlikely to go away. Mercedes is really pushing it and they do have reasons. It is supposed to add the spaciousness of the cabin but I am not sure it does for me and the floating look is meant to look lux. It does allow for much bigger screens which can sit much closer to eye level and reduce time of distraction with today's every increasing infotainment complexity. The other thing it allows for is multiple sized screens with different trim levels which would be cost prohibitive if each had to be integrated into the dash.

One interesting thought is they could be used as removable tablets but car manufacturers say that is unlikely to meet crash standards. My favorites now are the ones with instrument cluster displays and input devices on the center console.

Infinitis are for people who want a luxury vehicle but arent sophisticated enough to spend their money on BMW, Audi or Mercedes.

Yeah. I fricking hate that about the new Mercedes products.

Why couldn't they integrate the screen into the dash like almost every other manufacturer?

My chauffeur drives the Q50, says it almost drives as well as my Bentley. Impressive indeed.

..

disagree.. I've owned a few high end german products. this infiniti is right on par on terms of finish, fit, etc. with the added bonus that I don't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money with my local mechanic to keep it on the road.

3.7 liter rear wheel drive makes it QUICK. extremely fun to drive and a huge step up from an accord or camry.

the only negative comment I can make is that their software is somewhat subpar. takes way too log to load and sometimes blinks out and restarts.

I've heard about that. Do you have the 2014?
