I'm putting too many miles on my truck and am considering a small inexpensive car. I drive from Lafayette to either Baton Rouge, Alexandria, or Lake Charles on a daily basis. I hear good things about Hyundai and their warranty. Thanks.

Have a Hyundai Sonata with 90k miles one it. Only had 1 problem around 75k miles, where the High Pressure Fuel Pump went bad. Cost a few hundred to get fixed. Other than that, 0 problems.

Was planning on driving it until 100k and getting rid of it, but right now I may hold onto it until 150 if it keeps being reliable.

Yeah, I was looking at the Hyundai Elantra. Good mileage and great warranty.

We are set on the Kia Forte right now for a car to drive into the dirt.

Nice warranty, 35-40 mpg hwy, price starts low

You'll run through warranty way quicker than something going wrong. Extra insurance cost washes most fuel gains, doubling vehicle maintence.

How do the Ford Focus and Fusion hold up? I saw a couple the other day that looked nice.

A Focus Hatchback with a manual wouldn't be bad

I drive a Hyundai Accent as my only vehicle, as I don't drive much anyway. I like it a lot. I got a used 2015 one with 40K on it for under 10 K.

So you are looking for midsize coupe and sedans and not compact?

Yep, bought a 13 Hyundai Sonata, no frills, $12k with 30k miles, no complaints

Luckily I have a sweet jeep to drive when not commuting so I keep the majority of my man card

Pretty sure those are considered compacts.

as much as it would suck to have to drive some shite like that, I would bet that you would save more than enough in fuel savings to pay for the car easily. I would do it with quickness, so that you have it when gasoline climbs back into the $4 range.

Gas is at 2.50 a gallon here and we will save about 7000 in gas over the next 4 years, if it stayed at this price, it won't. That doesn't consider what we spend on insurance.

What matters most to me though is we aren't destroying our 2015 explorer sport with miles though

The Korean cars give you more for your money , and I've never had a problem with the last 2 I've had. 10 years 100,000 mile warranty beats everything else.

I'm probably going with something like a mid 2000s Honda or Acura.

I don't want to hate the car I'll be driving a shitload of miles per day or I'll end up driving my LTZ Tahoe instead.

ETA: you already back from Thailand?

I have a 2011 jetta I put 3-500 miles a day, 4-5 days per week for work. Just hit 110k miles no issues with it.

Drove a Sonata all last week as a rental, coming from a Tundra, it felt really small, but I suppose that's to be expected.

I'm 6 feet tall and found it cumbersome to get out of the vehicle.
