That era was not a good one for the corvette but, to be fair, there are very few cars from that time period that this statement could NOT be made about... specifically American cars.

Not sure about the newer ones, but an older miata will absolutely provide a purer and more analog driving experience than almost anything on market today.
And if you're interested in having a car that you can take the the absolute limit of its ability, then the miata is a much better choice for the vast majority of people than a 600+ hp RWD car.
