I'm considering a trip next summer. Always been fascinated by the place. Aside from plane tickets, it seems fairly affordable --obviously it's not a resort type of trip.

Anyone been? Any tips?

Don't forget the badass Genghis Khan statue with the observation deck on the horse's head.

The wonderful nomadic tribes of the EurAsian Steppes scared the shtt out of Europe for 500 yrs.

They are some of the most interesting in human history.

It's like Afghanistan without the Islamic fanaticism.

I like where your head's at. I would think there are more exciting places you could go, though. People hardly ever go there

I think that's what's interesting about it. I mean, who goes to Mongolia? But it seems pretty authentically unspoiled, it's the other side of world, but ironically (given ghengas Khan killed 15% of earths population) peaceful.

You don't need to bribe like South America or Africa.

I live in Mongolia. Be glad to tell you everything you want to know about it here.

Edit: It is the middle of the day, and I'm about to get on a bus. When you come back, post some specific questions, and I'll help you out. You should definitely visit Mongolia though.

Checked it out on google maps so now Im an expert. Looks cold, full of vast spaces, and lacks trees.
